Silvia Quarteroni holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of York (UK). She has been passionate about machine learning and its concrete and challenging applications for almost 20 years - and counting. This passion has made her an accomplished Natural Language Processing researcher at several European institutions, a Data Science expert consulting many iconic Swiss organizations, and finally brought her to her latest mission: leading organizations to digital transformation as a Principal Data Scientist with the Swiss Data Science Center.
Natural Language Processing: Teaching machines how to read and write to us
Natural Language Processing is a field of AI that aims at understanding and generating human language. Launched in the 50s, it has recently boomed thanks to the availability of large datasets and (deep) learning algorithms to train models, as well as to the popularity of intelligent search and conversational assistants like Siri or Alexa. This talk will feature the main intuitions behind Natural Language Processing and its concrete applications of today.Details
